List of Restricted Assault Weapons
Anything on the above list cannot be shipped to Washington D.C., to include all other models within a given series that are variations, with minor differences, of those models listed,
regardless of manufacturer.

Rifles
The following are prohibited:
✘Semi-automatic rifles with a detachable magazine and one or more of the following features:
1. Pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon
2. Thumbhole Stock
3. Forward pistol grip
4. Folding or telescoping stock
5. Grenade launcher or flare launcher
6. Flash Suppressor
✘All .50BMG rifles are prohibited.
✔ .22 LR caliber rifles with an attached tubular magazine are permitted.

Shotguns
The following are prohibited:
✘ Semi-automatic shotguns that have one or more of the following features:
1. Pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon
2. Folding / telescoping stock
3. Thumbhole stock
4. Vertical handgrip
5. Has the ability to accept detachable magazine
6. Shotguns with revolving cylinders:
a. Franchi SPAS 12 and LAW 12
b. Striker 12, Streetsweeper type S/S Inc. SS/12

Handguns
The following are prohibited:
Washington D.C. specifically lists handguns which are eligible for registration here.
✘No handguns over 10 rounds.
✘Semi-automatic handguns with a detachable magazine that have one or more of the following features:
1. Threaded barrel
2. Second handgrip
3. Barrel Shroud
4. Magazine that attaches to the firearm outside the pistol grip

✔ Handguns on the below state rosters are permitted:
● California DOJ Handgun Roster
● Maryland Handgun Roster
● Massachusetts Handgun Roster

Accessories / Ammunition
The following are prohibited:
✘ Magazines exceeding 10 rounds.
✘ .50 BMG ammunition
✘ Collapsible / adjustable stocks
✘ Stun guns and TASERs
✘ Defense sprays
✘ Batons
✘ Air guns (pneumatic, spring, or BB) firing projectile exceeding .18” (i.e. .22 cal. prohibited)
✘ Ammunition Qualifier: For the purchase of ammunition, the purchaser must present a valid firearms registration card.

LAW ENFORCEMENT EXEMPTIONS
Law enforcement (federal, state, or local) may acquire prohibited articles delineated above only when the agent is active, on-duty, acting within the scope of duties, and in possession of a statement on letterhead from the head of the agency stating that the item is to be used in the officer’s or agent’s official duties.
